For International Intended Parents
International Surrogacy in the United States
Intended parents from around the world choose California surrogacy for enforceable gestational agreements, experienced fertility clinics, and clear pre-birth parentage procedures. Babytree coordinates matching, legal, and medical steps across time zones. We do not sell, promise, or guarantee U.S. citizenship, passports, or visas.
International Coordination
Guided from your home country to delivery in California
Most international intended parents begin with a video consultation, then continue through matching, contracts, pregnancy updates, travel planning, and delivery with one coordinator keeping the process clear across time zones.
Why international parents choose California
Five structural reasons international intended parents make the United States — and California in particular — their surrogacy destination.
-
Strong, predictable surrogacy law
U.S. states like California recognize and protect gestational surrogacy contracts with well-established case law. Intended parents' legal parentage is secured before delivery.
-
Established fertility clinics
California is home to many of the most experienced IVF clinics in the world, with deep expertise in international intended parent coordination.
-
Parentage and travel documents
California courts can issue pre-birth orders that name the intended parents on the birth certificate. A child born in the United States may be eligible for a U.S. passport under federal law then in effect. Eligibility is determined by the U.S. government, not by this agency. Home-country nationality, exit documents, and parental visas are separate issues and are never guaranteed.
-
Comprehensive insurance ecosystem
Surrogacy-eligible insurance plans, escrow services, and surrogate-side attorneys are mature U.S. industries with deep expertise.
-
Surrogate screening rigor
U.S. agencies — and Babytree in particular — apply thorough medical, psychological, and background screening that international IP can trust.
The International Surrogacy Journey
Most international surrogacy journeys take approximately 15–24 months from the initial consultation to delivery, with five phases coordinated by a dedicated Babytree team working in your time zone.
- 1
Phase 1
Consultation
Initial video consultation with a Babytree coordinator covers your medical situation, country-specific legal/visa requirements, and budget. We work in your time zone.
- 2
Phase 2
Apply & match
Complete intended parent intake and embryo readiness. Matching with a California surrogate typically takes 2–6 months. You meet candidates virtually until you find the right fit.
- 3
Phase 3
Contracts & coordination
Independent attorneys for both sides (paid through the program), surrogacy contract, fertility clinic coordination, and travel planning for the embryo transfer cycle.
- 4
Phase 4
Pregnancy & travel planning
Babytree coordinates medical updates, translated reports when needed, and delivery-trip logistics. If you need advice on visas or newborn travel documents, we can refer independent U.S. immigration counsel. Counsel and government officers—not Babytree—decide visa and passport outcomes. We do not coach visa applications or advise anyone to misstate the purpose of travel.
- 5
Phase 5
Delivery & going home
We support you on the ground in California through delivery and hospital discharge. Independent counsel can help you assemble birth certificates, parentage orders, and passport applications. Processing times and approvals are controlled by courts and government agencies. Babytree does not guarantee issuance of any citizenship document or permission to enter or exit the United States.
How Babytree supports international intended parents
Three structural commitments that separate Babytree from agencies treating international IP as a niche use case.
-
Time-zone aware
Coordinator availability that fits your life
Babytree coordinators schedule consultations and updates around your time zone, not just U.S. business hours.
-
No international surcharge
Same agency fee, anywhere in the world
International intended parents pay the same agency fee as domestic IP — there is no international surcharge, and no rematch fee if matching needs to restart.
-
Independent counsel referrals
Document coordination
We refer experienced family-law and, where appropriate, immigration attorneys. We help organize hospital, court, and appointment logistics. We do not handle, sell, or guarantee citizenship, passports, or visas.
